Alison Dagnes is a political media researcher and scholar focused on how politics, culture, and communication collide in modern media. Her work examines polarized media, the future of journalism, and the ways humor and entertainment shape public understanding of power and leadership. Known for sharp analysis paired with an engaging, accessible style, Dagnes brings clarity—and occasional wit—to complex political conversations.

She is especially interested in how media narratives influence political behavior, public opinion, and democratic norms, and she believes rigorous research doesn’t have to be boring to be impactful.

Prior to receiving her doctorate in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Dagnes was a producer for C-SPAN on Capitol Hill which is not as boring as it sounds.
